Does DigiFam slow down my Internet speed?

The short answer is No.

DigiFam cannot slow your Internet speeds. It is dependent on and mirrors the speed of your existing Internet connection.

If you think that you are experiencing some slowness on your network, then there might be a WiFi channel conflict. Your network environment can be a busy place when it comes to wireless broadband; there maybe many networks within your location using the same channels that can cause interference and slow down your internet speeds. You can always log in to your main router and make a change to the WiFi channel that it is using.

The good news is that you can also easily change your DigiFam Home or Pro to a channel that has minimum interference and bring your DigiFam internet speed back to normal.

To change the WiFi channel on your DigiFam Home or Pro unit, follow these instructions:

1. Log in to your DigiFam Customer Portal

2. Click ‘My Account’

3. Select the ‘DigiFam Settings’ tab

4. Change your WiFi channel – we suggest that you change to either 6 or 11, as these tend to be the least busy channels

5. Click ‘Save Setting’

If you want to get a little more technical, you can use various third party programs to scan your network environment and see what WiFi channels are more commonly used in your neighborhood. Examples of these programs are Acrylic Home WiFi for Microsoft and NetSpot for Apple. Based on those results, you can then login to your main router’s customer portal and choose the channel that has the least interference. This information can also inform your choice of channels to apply to your DigiFam unit.
