How to setup DigiFam Pro

Getting started with DigiFam Pro is easy. Just follow these simple instructions:

1. Connect your DigiFam Pro unit to your router

Connect one end of the white network cable into the WAN Port of the DigiFam Pro unit

Then connect the other end of the white network cable into any Ethernet/LAN Port of your router

Next, connect the small end of the the supplied USB power cable into the ‘Power’ port of the DigiFam Pro unit

The DigiFam network is now available

2. Register with DigiFam

Using your mobile phone, download the DigiFam App from the Google Play Store (for Android) or The App Store (for iOS)

Open the App and login using the credentials that were emailed to you after point of purchase

Click on the ‘Wi-Fi’ tab on the DigiFam App and click ‘Register Your DigiFam Unit’

You will be taken to a page where you will login and enter the MAC Address of the DigiFam unit

The MAC Address can be found on the label at the bottom of the DigiFam unit. The format is 1a2b3c4d5e6f

This will associate the box with your account.

Allow a couple of minutes for your unit to reboot and complete registration

Once all LED Lights are solid, you can then begin to connect the children’s devices to the DigiFam network

3. Connect your children’s devices

Connect your children’s devices to the DigiFam network the same way as any other network (the default password is “DigiFamwifi“and you can change this at any time – Click here to find out how to change the WIFI password).

Recommended steps

Change the password to your home WiFi as well as the password to access your home router settings.

If your router has a WPS button, please contact your internet service provider to disable this button as it allows for any device to connect to your router without knowing the password.

It sometimes looks like two black, white or green arrows in an oval shape or is labelled WPS.

Additionally, the WPS button is known to have security flaws and should be disabled as a security measure.

Your setup is now complete.

Your kids’ devices will appear on the WIFI tab of your app as you connect them. You can now begin to create & apply your filters and schedules to your children’s devices.

How to install DigiFam Mobile on Android

Getting started with DigiFam Mobile is easy. Just follow these simple instructions:

1. Purchase your subscription QR Code online or in-store:

Buy your DigiFam Mobile subscription online – one subscription lets you manage up to 3 mobile devices:

Select Options – Button to take to Pricing page

OR…

Purchase in-store at your nearby retailer:

2. On The Parent Phone – Register your details with DigiFam

Download the DigiFam App from the Google Play Store (for Android) or The App Store (for iOS)

Open the App and register as a new DigiFam customer, or if you are an existing customer, just Login

Go to the Mobile menu and use the ‘Scan’ button to scan your purchased DigiFam Mobile QR Code

You will now see your Mobile menu has been populated with 3 x ‘Activate Your Child’s Device‘ slots.

Click on one of the ‘Activate Child’s Device’ slots.

Choose the ‘Android’ option

You will have 2 methods of installation. Quick Install or Full Install. The difference being that Full Install will give the Parent complete ownership of of that device, will grey out Apps that are listed as ‘Not Allowed’ and will be capable of accepting any new and improved features in the future

Once you have chose your Android Installation Method, use the in-app instructions on how to prepare your child’s device and install “SaferK”

3. On The Child’s Phone – Install SaferK (Quick Install)

After choosing the ‘Quick Install’ option for the Android Solution on the DigiFam Parent App, you will see a QR Code that will be eventually scanned by the child device

Under that QR Code, there is a ‘Share Link’ button.

Click this button to share a link with the Child Device via any messenger platform

On the Child Device, click on the received link

This will ask you to allow downloads from an unknown source. Allow this

The Child App will then download

Follow the in-app instructions for the installation process

The camera will eventually open to allow you to scan the QR Code that was generated on the DigiFam Parent App

This completes the installation

4. On The Child’s Phone – Install SaferK (Full Install)

Note:

A factory reset is required on the Child Device in order for the Parent to have full ownership. Please ensure to backup the device before factory reset

Backup the data on the Child’s Phone

Now perform a factory reset

Once the phone reboots and before you personalise the device, on the very first screen that welcomes you and asks to choose a language, tap on the screen about 7 or 8 times

This will open a QR Reader

If you are asked to connect to a Wi-Fi network first then do so.

Once you have connected, the QR Reader will open the camera on your child’s phone

You can now scan QR Code in Step 2 of the installation guide on the Parent DigiFam App

After scanning on the Child Device, follow the instructions to install SaferK

The camera will eventually open on the Child Device to scan the final QR Code

This final QR Code will be generated in Step 3 of the installation guide on the Parent DigiFam App

Once you have scanned the final QR Code, finally, reboot the Child Device to complete the installation and the association of the Child Device with the Parent’s DigiFam Account

Your setup is now complete.

Your kid’s mobile phone will appear on the MOBILE tab of your DigiFam app. You can now begin to create & apply your filters and schedules to your child’s device.

3. Activate your child’s device

Click on one of the ‘Activate Child’s Device’ slots.

Then choose the “Apple” option.

You will now see a QR Code that will eventually be scanned by Child Device

Below the QR Code, there is a ‘Share Link’ button.

By clicking on this button, you will be able to share a link via any messaging platform to the Child Device.

This link will allow you to download ‘SaferK’ to the Child Device from The App Store

4. Now you can install SaferK on the child device

Once the device preparation tasks are complete, you can now click on the link that was shared from the DigiFam Parent App.

The App Store will then open to download SaferK.

Follow the instructions screens provided on SaferK.

Then the camera on your child’s smartphone will open and you will then use this to scan the QR Code that was generated on your DigiFam Parent App as mentioned in point 3. ‘Activate Your Child Device’.

Finally, reboot the child device to activate SaferK and complete the association of your child’s smartphone and your DigiFam Parent app.

Your setup is now complete.

Your kid’s mobile phone will appear on the MOBILE tab of your DigiFam app. You can now begin to create & apply your filters and schedules to your child’s device.

5. Protect SaferK from uninstallation

You can very easily protect SaferK from intentional uninstallation.

How do I connect a device to the DigiFam WiFi network?

1. Connect & register your DigiFam Home or DigiFam Pro unit

Make sure that have connected your DigiFam WiFi Home or Pro unit and that you have completed your registration.

2. Connect the device to your DigiFam WiFi network

Navigate to the WiFi settings on the device

Select the DigiFam network, which will be listed in the Available Networks list

You will be prompted to enter the WiFi password – this will be the default password DigiFamwifi, unless you have changed this during your registration.

Click Connect

3. Confirm that your device has connected

Check your DigiFam app or DigiFam Customer Portal – the newly connected device will now show in your list of devices in your WiFi tab

4. Rename the device (if needed)

In some cases, the name of the device may be shown on your DigiFam app as a code or as an unexpected name (e.g. Android203923935)

You can easily rename the device by selecting the device in your app list, then alter the device name and click save (check mark, top right hand corner)
